SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - Hundreds of workers are needed to fill seasonal job openings in Sevier County.

Millions of people visit Great Smoky Mountains National Park each year and companies hoping to turn a profit bulk up their staffs ahead of the tourist season.

One place hiring is NASCAR SpeedPark in Sevierville. There are 80 seasonal jobs they need to fill.

The speedpark held a job fair Tuesday. "We're looking for caring and dependable individuals who are looking to join a fun and positive team," said Assistant General Manager Ben Hess.

The company will continue the job fair on Wednesday. "It's been great," said Hess. "We've had 25 to 30 people here, and there is more coming in steadily throughout the day."

Dollywood will fill 700 seasonal positions. Officials there say they plan to hold a job fair in March.

Last week, the Fee Hedrick Family Entertainment Group, which owns several attractions in Sevier County, held a job fair.

Fee Hedrick still has several positions available. "We are hiring for box office, concessions, gift shop and servers," said human resources manager Charlotte Rose.

At Wilderness at the Smokies in Sevierville, more than 50 jobs will be filled in March.

State employment specialists were at the NASCAR SpeedPark job fair helping people improve their resumes and find other job opportunities. They say the bad economy has forced many people to take whatever job they can get.

"We see a wide range of qualifications, education, and experience, recent graduates from high school to people, who have masters, and beyond degrees." said Sarah Beane, with the state.
